The meaning in your chart, dreams, your mythical path...
a
client comments, "My friend says I'm not a typical
Gemini."
After
reading an astrology book, many insightful people make observations
about their friends or children. Quite soon they can make
up their minds about what is "typical".
It is a kind of statistical relating: points for this, no-points
for that. But, in practice, there is no typical.
What
is present is a running story, a kind of narrative which
engages a mirroring between your life and the stories of
the ages, as told in mythology, reflected in dreams, and
symbolized by the planets on the little wheel which forms
the basis of my work.
Astrology's
deeper practices ferret these narratives to trace the
lines of their cyclic repetition in your life. When we can
visualize this story together, we can understand our role
in life more easily. Love problems become heroic passion
plays. Their painful experiences return us to our
mortal status. The interaction between the two realms become
fused as our work progresses, and the meaning of your life
is more beautiful, rendered sacred by attention to the synchronous
events which tie the mortal to the gods, and visa versa.
What
I hope to acheive with clients is a release from "typical"
into their deepest individuality, to identify the kernel
of what is really "you." When you operate
from that kernel, the cycles and determinations of the planets
are more determined by you, than by fate.
It's
the consciousness factor that makes a difference,
and brings the understanding of your "cosmic signature"
which, when fully understood, becomes a kind of contract
which you may use to free yourself to the will of God, do
His bidding on this earth, and by doing so, find the greatest
satisfaction.
As
an astrologer I am here to acquaint you with the powers
of the Human Spirit to overcome the difficulties--not by
conquest and power--but by understanding of your unique
role. Together we may view the barriers and conditions
of our life with wisdom. With a better acceptance of
that unique kernel, we may open ourselves to the flow
of Life. Ah.
Methodology
I
am a writer and astrologer, specializing in consciousness
studies. What we think and what we believe may be a product
of our psychology. If any of this thinking and believing
is toxic to oneself or to others, there may be a remedy
in psychological understanding.
Beginning
with dreams and symbolic imagery found in various traditions,
Astrology, Alchemy, Tarot an exploration of the deep psyche
is possible. Examination via these ancient and pictorial
voices offers an "enchanted" way of finding and
converting that toxicity.
My
particular method, known as "amplification" is
self-taught. My study spans the works of CG Jung, Emma Jung,
Marie-Louise von Franz, Barbara Hannah, and numerous others
who may provide the Jungian model for inquiry into the world
of the Unknown, (whether with symbols or dreams). Amplification
is respectful to the integrity of the deeper mysteries,
but also recognizes the outer realities. An effort to perceive
a wholeness out of the disparate facts of the psyche is
the job of the astrologer. To teach you how to "hear"
the voices of these various identities within permits a
new perspective, and a far more effective way to re-route
conscious thought in order to harmonize with nature, from
the planetary point of view.
On
this web site, several of my articles focus on symbol as
seen through the experience of the archetypes. This view
is expanded by a poetic view of nature and the planets.
My particular interest is in "participation" consciousness,
the Stellar Consciousness of more ancient times. The
author of "The Re-Enchantment of the World," Morris
Berman (Viking Press) is my inspiration in dedicating my
work to this 're-enchantment." By becoming magically
involved in the processes of the psyche, my clients may
find a "back door" to either resolution or acceptance
of life's improbabilities.
The
works of Carl Gustav Jung and his entourage of analysts
are the best "housing" for understanding astrology
in today's world. We are subject to the will of various
forces within our psyche and in our physical world, each
one very "real" and each one needing attention
in its fullest dimension. When the astrological language
is understood as a symbolic story of the multiplicity of
voices we have working in the stream of consciousness, we
are better prepared for their surprises.
My
current work combines an imaginative procedure for increasing
happiness and intimacy inspired by Jung's fascination for
alchemy, with the concepts of astrology. To wrestle with
one's demons, in particular the forces of the Unconscious,
places us in an odd position. In the Modern World we carefully
construct our lives to avoid contact with all such "poppycock."
But unhappiness in a marriage may persist, for example.
To
this end I am devoting part of my schedule to a manuscript,
"The Quest
for Authentic Love". In a relationship, one or
both of the partners face difficulties which may not be
easily "treated" at the marriage counselor's office.
Very often we blame each other for "behavior"
but disregard one's own demon which may well trapped into
power plays.
CG
Jung's work directs the attention to the inner dimensions
of life. Astrology puts the timing factor into place.
Credits
I
owe to my teachers a gratitude for their insights which
have motivated my work, and keep it nourished:
Wendy
Z Ashley, in Peaks Island, Maine has made mythological
astrology return to "aliveness" and wonder.
Her article features a magical exercise that returns to
us an awareness of nature, and the necessity of understanding
its proximity when studying the symbolic. She is my
teacher, and a most remarkable astrologer.
Also
important to my work is Rob Hand's effort to exhume
the texts of our forebears with ARHAT and Project Hindsight,
(along with Robert Zoller, Robert Schmidt and numerous others
whose names might be listed here) bringing forward our ancient
colleagues to speak for themselves, thus restoring some
of the former potency enjoyed in the past, to today's astrology.
I
am a student of Robert Zoller, a Latin Classicist, a scholar
specializing in the translations of ancient texts on astrology.
His insights and style are typically drawn from the techniques
of the most potent astrologers during their most colorful
historical period, beginning with the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians
and moving to 8th century scholars working in both Arabic
and Latin.
The
ancients once called them "the gods," astrologers
call them "the planets" and in today's world,
we may call these very real forces, the "archetypes."
